Deep and Wide: Guard Your Heart

We carefully guard the things that are valuable to us—our homes, our possessions, our health, and the people we love. But Scripture reminds us that there is something else we must guard with great care: our hearts. Proverbs 4:23 says: “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” This Sunday, we’ll continue our Deep and Wide series with a message called “Guard Your Heart.” We’ll discover why the condition of our hearts matters so much and consider some practical ways to protect what we allow to take root within us. An unguarded thought can become a repeated thought. A repeated thought can become a desire. A desire can become a decision—and eventually, our decisions shape the people we are becoming. The good news is that God not only calls us to guard our hearts; He also offers to renew and strengthen them.
